By Yevheniia Syvokozova, scholar at the Deutsches Theater, Berlin, Germany
This new performance is already a step towards to become a
really serious international theater company. This kind of performances become necessary
in any country of Europe and the world. The time and the issues we worked with are
relevant for every person-viewer. The language is an eternal question and
there are many possibilities to find an answer. The existence of a rehearsal research process about the body,
at the famous Deutsches
Theater, working with important artists, in interaction
with those people is a real
luck. Workshops, administrative management, opportunity to get
acquainted with the repertoire and actors strengthened my penetration and
understanding in the formation and flow of processes. I was not an observer,
but a do-er, a creator, an implanted mechanism. And the theatre needs this kind of
laboratory.
I Tell
You We Must Die – is an amazing experience to overcome the well-known
comfortable territory, if something is already clear to you and you know
everything, then you are already dead. A cadaverous corpse. If you want to
Live-continue the movement-do not stop after the first achievement.
Go! Live! Act!
Many thanks to the directors Katharina Schenk and Peter
Cant, the producer Christa MΓΌller for their professionalism, the solving of all
organizational issues, the desire to create a "non-formal, reportable"
product of theatre, but a real live, breakthrough, courageous and necessary search for an
answer in the form of a performance.
I would like to see I Tell You We Must Die as a spectator and show it as many
spectators and colleagues from different countries as possible. It could participate in
discussions, festivals and received further developments.
Thank you very much for your work!
